Cable triceps pushdown is a very good warm-up for elbow joints and triceps, and next for working your muscles really hard. It is also perfect for use at the end of your workout because it isolates the triceps, especially their short lateral heads. As a result you can hit all three heads of the triceps with a good peak contraction.

like with most exercises like for about 6/8-10 reps and IMO just go heavy but with good form, dont come up too high, relieving pressure of your triceps and just push straight down, keeping your upper arm locked in a vertical position, you get people that full stack it and they end leaning over the cable and practically jumping down into the rep.

Researchers have found that cable push-downs actually activated the lateral head of the triceps greater than skull crushers or kickbacks.
