One study found that while moving to a decline does increase your lower pec activation, there isn’t a significant difference on upper pec activation between incline and decline bench pressing (5). Now, that is only one study and other research shows less upper pecs with declines (1). Declines are worth experimenting with.

So instead of pressing the Barbell forward, you’ll start by holding the end of the barbell in a low position, and then you’ll pass the barbell back and forth from one hand to the other in an upward arching motion to follow the fibers of the upper chest. It’s not a difficult variation to do and you’ll definitely hammer those upper pecs.

These are perfect for hitting the upper region of the pecs! Just perform them like you would regular flat bench with slow, strict reps and good form. All of the variations of incline press place intense stress on the upper pecs, primarily; then on the anterior deltoids and triceps.
